Last summer it became clear that a convertible can also be expected based on the new Mercedes-Benz C-class. It will also receive the AMG treatment, as is clear from these new spy photos.

Mercedes-Benz was not exactly generous with information about a possible Cabrio and Coupé version around the unveiling of the new C-class. It was even highly questionable whether they would come back. In June, however, the confirmation came that at least another C-class Cabrio is coming. That is, our spy photographer photographed him. However, the Coupé has still not given any sign of life.

It is now again the C-class Cabrio that shows itself. Unfortunately Mercedes has not forgotten how to apply the camouflage material in the past six months and so we don’t get to see much more of the appearance than in June. Yet there is something special going on with this copy compared to the previously spotted car. For example, larger wheels with large brake discs behind them, in combination with the double exhausts, betray that this is logically the Mercedes-AMG C63 Cabrio.

Although there are few shocking changes in appearance – just like with the regular C-class, we expect that with the C63 under the hood. It is now an open secret that Mercedes-AMG works with electrified four-cylinders for the (for now) sportiest C-class and no longer with the well-known 4.0 V8. That is of course something to swallow for the enthusiasts.

Mercedes-AMG C63 powertrain

A longitudinally placed 2.0 four-cylinder turbo, known from the A45 S, serves in the C63. Mercedes-AMG previously revealed that, together with an electric motor on the rear axle, it is good for a system power of up to 654 hp. Possibly, that full potential will not be used with the C63, but you can count on it that it can handle the BMW M4 Convertible. However, the latter with its six-cylinder will almost certainly sound better.
