Following the Mercedes-AMG CLE coupe, the convertible is now also available as ’53’. This means enjoying a nice, powerful six-cylinder engine with mild hybrid support in the open air.

We currently have the Mercedes-Benz CLE in one AMG flavor; the Mercedes-AMG CLE 53. We met it exactly five months ago as a coupe, now the convertible is also available. It won’t surprise you, but it also has the 3.0 inline-six in its nose, a mild-hybrid power source with two turbos. It pumps out 449 hp and 560 Nm and that power is distributed to all wheels via the nine-speed AMG Speedshift transmission and the 4Matic all-wheel drive.

It gives the Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4Matic Cabriolet (quite a mouthful) a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h, which can be increased to 270 km/h for an additional charge. With this he achieves the same figures as his closed brother. Of course there is the necessary external decoration, although on the convertible shown it looks a little more subtle, especially at the rear, than on the coupe. For example, in these photos we see a chrome-plated trim part on the diffuser and the black wings above the air outlets in the bumper are missing. You can probably dress it up a bit further (and especially blacker) later if that is your taste. In the interior you will find sports seats covered with artificial leather and here too you can go a lot further on the options list and include nappa leather and extra carbon fiber accents.

The firmer cornering has of course been carefully considered. The Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 4Matic Cabriolet has the AMG Ride Control suspension, which should allow the CLE to hold its own under different conditions thanks to adaptive damping and the associated various driving modes. The larger track width (5.8 cm at the front and even 7.5 cm at the rear) makes a significant contribution to this. The Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 Cabriolet already comes with 19-inch alloys as standard, with 20-inch models available at an additional cost. Prices are not available yet. In any case, the coupe costs at least €134,330, you can bet that the convertible will go over that.
