Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4-Door becomes stronger sub-topper

Mercedes-AMG is preparing a number of innovations for the GT 4-Door Coupé. Here we see the 63 S, which is expected to become more powerful, but is no longer at the top of the food chain.

The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé has not been with us that long, but the Germans are just as fine sharpening it. The camouflaged front bumper on this prototype suggests that the layout thereof changes slightly, but we have therefore immediately dealt with the biggest external news. There is more going on under the long hood of the super strong four-door. The GT 63 S is still the top version and is expected to be even more powerful itself. The biturbo V8 gets mild-hybrid technology on board, so with EQ boost there can probably be temporarily more than the 639 hp that it now has to address. Obviously, it should also reduce consumption, although the average 4-Door Coupé driver will be little concerned with it.

We said it already, it is ‘now the top version’. Mercedes-AMG is preparing a ’73’, a plug-in hybrid that is expected to generate around 800 hp thanks to the support of an electric motor. Earlier this week it was announced that the car carries the new label ‘E Performance’. The fact that that label is not on this 63 S despite the mild hybrid power, probably means that it is only intended for plug-ins. We expect, among others, that the upcoming C63 will also receive this label, since it will only be assigned a four-cylinder in the base. Thanks to an interplay with an electric motor, the new C63 should be able to deliver performance that should alleviate the lack of four cylinders.
