It will be freezing cold in the north of Sweden early this winter. That is undoubtedly good for Mercedes, because this way the brand can nicely subject the facelifted A-class to cold tests.
Temperatures well below -20 degrees Celsius are no exception this period in the region around Arvidsjaur, where Mercedes, among others, has its test center for cold conditions. This makes it unusually cold for the time of year, but that works out well for the test drivers.
Perhaps a little less for the photographer who is hidden in the bushes, but from the arrival of the mail with photos, we conclude that he also survived this session. The spotted car is the facelifted A-class, as we have seen it more often lately. This time it is a silver gray copy and we get a good view of the shape of the grille. It shows many similarities with the copy on the new C-class. More specifically: the copy on the C-class without the AMG package. With that sporty package, the ‘C’ gets a differently shaped fencing, which flares out wider at the bottom. That could just also apply to the A-class.
Outside of that slightly modified front, the changes to the A-class introduced in 2018 are limited. We see differently classified headlights and taillights, which will undoubtedly be equipped with LED technology as standard. However, nothing seems to change in the shape of the light units. Also in the interior we expect only detail changes. The dashboard of this copy still shows the horizontal screen that we now also know from the A-class. This model therefore does not appear to have a dashboard in the style of the new S-class. Mercedes may save that for the generation change that will take a few more years.
