The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix gave Mercedes-AMG F1 enough points to secure the seventh constructors title in a row. Lewis Hamilton won, his teammate at Mercedes, Valtteri Bottas, crossed the finish line second.
On the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari (also called Imola) the Grand Prix of Emilia Romagna was held on Sunday. Initially, Valtteri Bottas was in the lead and Max Verstappen was in second place, but due to a very fortunately timed Virtual Safety Car for Hamilton, Hamilton could take the lead after his pit stop. Verstappen then took second place again by overtaking Bottas, only a blowout put an end to his race a few laps later. After this, the two Mercedes did not give away the lead positions. Renault’s Daniel Ricciardo finished third.
For the Mercedes Formula 1 team, this result meant that it can no longer be beaten in the constructors’ championship. Thus, the England-based team can call itself champion for the seventh time in a row. Since the hybrid powertrain with the V6 was introduced in 2014, the Silver arrows unstoppable. Lewis Hamilton is now also almost certain of his seventh world title. Something strange has to happen in the coming races if he doesn’t want to become champion again. Bottas and Verstappen can still fight for second place.
