Ground clearance, off-road programs and towing capacity
Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate All-Terrain
Mercedes-Benz is introducing an all-terrain station wagon, the Estate All-Terrain, of the accessible C-Class. That promises driving pleasure!
We already know the All-Terrain variant of the E-Class, now Mercedes-Benz also comes with such an off-road model of the accessible C-Class Estate. That is great news for those who find an SUV too high but still want to be able to drive off-road. What does this new station wagon offer for that?
In short: about 40 mm extra ground clearance compared to the regular C-Class Estate; the comfort suspension with passive damping system as standard (to adapt the damping to the road surface); two off-road driving programs; off-road lighting; and standard 4Matic four-wheel drive. The additional off-road driving programs are suitable for ‘off-road’ and, on tougher and steeper terrain, ‘off-road+ with DSR’. The latter stands for Downhill Speed Regulation.
Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate All-Terrain
The exterior of the C-Class All-Terrain is also equipped with the necessary off-road design elements. For example, the Estate has dark gray wheel arch trim, optical protection plates, special bumpers and its own grille. Compared to the conventional C Estate, the All-Terrain has increased by several inches in length, width and height. The luggage space, however, remains the same with a maximum of 1,510 liters. Conveniently, you can tow a trailer up to 1,800 kg with the All-Terrain. So it is the perfect holiday car.
Under the hood, the all-terrain C-Class estate has the new engines of the C-Class Saloon and regular Estate introduced this year. Both petrol and diesel engines are equipped with 48V mild hybrid technology. It can deliver up to 15 kW of extra power. The latest driver assistance systems and the self-learning MBUX infotainment system can also be found on the All-Terrain model. The newcomer will make its debut at the IAA motor show in Munich next month.
