Mercedes-Benz CLA and GLA now also as a plug-in hybrid

Mercedes-Benz smoothly pulls the canvas of not one, not two, but three brand-new plug-in hybrids. We Both the CLA Coupé, the CLA Shooting Brake and the GLA benefit from a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

In August last year, Mercedes-Benz presented the plug-in flavors of both the A and B class, and now the time has come for a large part of the rest of Mercedes’ compact model family to take the plug. The CLA Shooting Brake, CLA CoupĂ© and the GLA will soon be available as 250th.

The three new plug-in hybrids from Mercedes-Benz all get the same powertrain and that means that in the three newcomers a 160-horsepower 1.3-liter blown four-cylinder works together with a 102-horsepower electric motor. The system power at the bottom is 218 hp and 450 Nm. The battery pack located under the rear seat has a capacity of 15.6 kWh in all cases.

However, things like the range and acceleration times do differ. In the CLA Coupé, the most streamlined of the set, you must be able to cover 60 to 69 WLTP kilometers. The CLA Shooting Brake comes 58 to 68 kilometers away according to the same measuring cycle and the GLA 250e has a range of 53 to 61 kilometers after its name. The CLA Coupé sprints in 6.8 counts to a speed of 100 km / h while its Shooting Brake brother takes 0.1 count more time for that sprint. The GLA 250e has a speed of 100 km / h in 7.1 seconds on the clock.

Behind the tailgate, which is located at the rear right of the new three, there is a connection that is suitable for the well-known Combo plug. In addition to a regular Type 2 cable, the CCS plug of a fast charging station can also handle the plug-in A, which is quite special for a plug-in hybrid. Depending on the charging station used, the full dripping of the battery takes 40 minutes to one and a half hours.
