For those who want an adventurous, big Benz but an SUV like the GLE is too much of a good thing, Mercedes-Benz has another E-class All Terrain on offer. AutoWeek has obtained the prices of the new Mercedes-Benz E-class All Terrain.

Just like the previous generation E-class, Mercedes-Benz also offers an E-class All Terrain for the new model presented this year. The Mercedes-Benz E-class All Terrain is actually the most adventurously decorated variant of the E-class Estate, i.e. the station wagon. For those who do not want a GLE but still want to be able to send their passengers and associated luggage comfortably over less traveled roads, the E-class All Terrain offers an excellent alternative. It is now known what the upgraded E Estate will cost.

Prices for the Mercedes-Benz E-class All Terrain start above 80 grand. It costs at least €83,880. For that amount you get the E-class All Terrain as the 300th 4Matic. Indeed, as a plug-in hybrid with a diesel engine. The 300de 4Matic has a 197 hp 2.0 four-cylinder that works together with a 129 hp electric motor. The system power is 313 hp and a generous 700 Nm. This plug-in version reaches a speed of 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds. Its top speed: 213 km/h. The electric range is more interesting. This has been set at 85 to 102 kilometers.

Is the E-class All Terrain only available as a plug-in hybrid with self-igniter? No, although the engine range is still quite limited. Mercedes-Benz currently offers the All Terrain in the Netherlands with only one petrol version. It goes by the name 450 4Matic and does not have a four-cylinder engine, but a 3.0 six-cylinder. The mild-hybrid power plant delivers 381 hp and 500 Nm, the mild-hybrid part of that hardware is capable of adding 23 hp and 205 Nm to the whole. With a 0-100 time of just 4.7 seconds, this E450 4Matic is very fast, to say the least. Its top speed is no less than 250 km/h. Despite the power, average consumption according to Mercedes-Benz is 8.0-8.7 l/100 km. Of course it is not a bargain. Mercedes-Benz asks at least €117,675 for the E-class All Terrain 450 4Matic.

The E-class All Terrain will be available at Dutch dealers from the first quarter of 2024.

Rougher

The Mercedes-Benz E-class All Terrain has standard air suspension and – depending on the driving mode selected – stands up to 4.6 centimeters higher on its feet than a less adventurous E-class Estate. From a speed of 120 km/h, the E-class All Terrain drops down by 1.5 meters again. The luggage space is spacious, just like that of the regular E Estate, although the station version of the current E-class without the rear seat folded down is marginally less spacious than the previous model. The E-class Estate swallows 615 to – with the rear seats flat – 1,830 liters. The previous E-class Estate had a capacity of 640 liters and had a capacity of 1,820 liters with the rear seat flat. In the plug-in hybrid E-class Estate and therefore also in the E-class All Terrain 300de 4Matic, you can store less due to the placement of the battery pack: 460 to 1,675 liters).

On the outside, the E-class All Terrain distinguishes itself with its grille containing two instead of one or three horizontal slats. The bumper work, the skid plates and the wheel arch edges in dark gray are also optical recognition points. A mild-hybrid 220d diesel version may follow later.
