Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate

Until now we only know the brand new Mercedes-Benz E-class as a Limousine, but of course there will also be a nice and spacious E-class Estate. It’s here now. What seems? It is slightly longer than its predecessor, but still offers a few liters less luggage space.

First of all: the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate is certainly not a model in which you are short of power. But it won’t be as spacious as the E-class Estate once was. The previous generation kicked it up to 640 liters without the rear seats folded down and its predecessor – the S212 – swallowed no less than 695 liters. This brand new Mercedes-Benz E-class has a volume of 640 liters with the rear seats up, which means it has a less lavish luggage space than its two predecessors. This is striking, since the new E-Class Estate with a car length of 4.95 meters is a few millimeters larger than the station wagon it replaces. In addition, the E-Estate is almost three centimeters wider and has a wheelbase that is more than two centimeters larger than before.

Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate S212

It will never be as spacious as the E-Class Estate was two generations ago.

So some liters were lost during the generation change. As with the Limousine, the extra centimeters that the new E-Class Estate gains compared to the previous model mainly benefit the rear seat passengers. If you throw the back seat flat, you will benefit from its slightly larger size. With – incidentally in unequal parts – folded rear seats, the new station-E slurps up to 1,830 liters of material. The previous one stuck at 1,820 with the rear seats folded down. As before, you have to settle for a smaller luggage space with plug-in hybrid versions. Due to the placement of the battery pack, you can store a plug-in E-Estate 460 liters (-155 liters) in the back. With the rear seats folded down, the plug-in hybrid Estates like 1,675 litres.

Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate

For those who know the latest E-class Limousine, this Estate provides few surprises in terms of appearance. Like the sedan, the E-Class Estate will soon be available with an illuminated grille that is reminiscent of the ones that Mercedes-Benz screws onto its EQ models. Handles recessed into the doors? From the party. Like the four-door E, the Estate has taillights filled in with stars referring to the Benz logo. For the first time, the rear lights of the Estate are visually linked.

The Estate also corresponds to the sedan on the inside. This means, for an additional charge, among other things, the presence of the MBUX Supercreen with 12.3-inch instruments, a spacious 14-inch infotainment screen and, for an additional fee (MBUX Premium Plus), a screen with a diagonal of 12.3 inches for the co-driver .

Just like the E-class Limousine, the E-class Estate comes in various lines available (Avantgarde, Exclusive and AMG) and there is even more to choose from when it comes to engines. There will be mild hybrid petrol and diesel models with four cylinders (E200, E220 d) and a couple of plug-in hybrid variants. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class Limousine has already been presented as E300 e, E300 e 4Matic and E400 e. The E-class Estate is currently only available as an E200, E220d and E300 e. The plug-in hybrid E300 e is perhaps the most interesting. It consists of a 204 hp and 320 Nm powerful 2.0 four-cylinder, which together with a 129 hp electric heart gives the car a system power of 313 hp and 550 Nm. In 6.5 seconds you can reach a speed of 100 km / h from standstill. Its top speed: 227 km/h. The E-class Estate E300 e can travel up to 113 kilometers on electric power alone.

In the autumn of this year, Mercedes-Benz will open the Dutch order books for the E-class Estate. Prices are not available at the moment.
