Mercedes-Benz EQE 300 – Farewell Endurance Test

To Poland on a load as a highlight

The Mercedes-Benz EQE 300 was returned to the importer after four months. It was a period in which we experienced the EQE class as a very economical, relaxed electric sedan. His highlight was during the ride where we left Nieuwegein with a full battery charge, only to have to charge again for the first time in Poland.

The EQE 300 has a lot of power with 272 hp. You will never fall short, but for an electric car in this class it is not really very fast. The car responds quickly, but is not as breathy as some other EVs. In short, it reminds us a bit of the relaxed diesels in its ancestors, such as the Mercedes 200D, cars with which you could comfortably eat miles and drive for hours on end. This means you can travel up to more than 700 kilometers on a single charge if you go hypermiling. With normal Dutch use, we also achieved 560 kilometers on a charge in the first few weeks, although we drove normally with traffic. That was in excellent conditions in the summer, with temperatures around 20 degrees.

A comparison test in which he collected the most points was his second trick during the endurance test. The EQE 300 Business defeated the BMW i4 (smaller class, but the new i5 was not yet available) and the Chinese BYD Han. To properly explain the EQE next to an EQS, the electric equivalent of the Mercedes S-class, we put the two low electric Benzes next to each other. The EQS is larger, more luxurious and the model has a large tailgate, so a fifth door. There is a clear difference, as there has always been between an E-class and an S-class.

The only point of criticism of the EQE is the low ground clearance. We even put the endurance tester on the bridge to see how bad the damage was to the bottom. Fortunately, that wasn’t too bad, but the impacts on thresholds in residential areas are an attack on the comfort that the EQE otherwise offers to a large extent.
