Stretching!
The Mercedes-Benz GLC is available as a GLC and as a GLC CoupĂ©, but is now getting a third body variant. This is the Mercedes-Benz GLC L, a longer variant of the GLC that Mercedes-Benz has developed especially for the Chinese market. The GLC L is not only longer and more spacious than ‘our GLC’, it can also accommodate seven occupants!
The Mercedes-Benz GLC is always a five-seater in Europe. Especially for the Chinese market – where well-known models are more than regularly sold in extended form – the Beijing Benz joint venture has now presented an extra-long version of the second-generation GLC. That this version would come is of course no surprise. After all, there was also an extended L version of the previous generation GLC. What is surprising is what takes place in the back of the longer GLC. There you will find a third row of seats.
Mercedes-Benz supplies the GLC L in China not only as a five-seater, but also as a seven-seater with a third row of seats for a fee. That’s for the first time. The previous extended GLC was also always a five-seater in China. The European Mercedes-Benz GLC is 4.72 meters long and has a wheelbase of 2.88 meters. The Chinese Mercedes GLC L extends over a distance of 4.83 meters and is therefore a good 11 centimeters longer than the model known here. The wheelbase is also longer. The GLC L has 2.98 meters between the front and rear axles. Ten centimeters more than the GLC that you can buy here.
The GLC L comes in China with two 2.0 four-cylinder engines. It is available as a 204 hp GLC 260 and as a 258 hp GLC 300. Both engine versions can be combined with the five- and seven-seat configuration. The GLC L is available in China as a five-seater from €56,600 and changes hands as a seven-seater from €57,950.
