The first will open this year

Mercedes-Benz is starting to set up its own fast charging network. The first ‘Charging Hubs’ will open this year, with a location in Germany as the closest. More will follow soon.
As a ‘premium’ car manufacturer, you don’t actually participate anymore if you don’t also set up your own charging network. In any case, Mercedes-Benz is also participating and will open its first fast chargers at three locations this fall. The first Mercedes-Benz Charging Hubs will open this fall in Mannheim, Germany, Atlanta, USA, and Chengdu, China. There will be (many) more next year, because by the end of 2024 the number of fast chargers worldwide must be over two thousand. By the end of this decade there should be ten thousand, spread over two thousand locations. A quick calculation shows that you will find an average of five fast chargers per Charging Hub.
At the fast chargers from Mercedes-Benz you should be able to top up with up to 400 kW charging capacity. According to the Germans, charging with the maximum load capacity that your car can handle is always possible, so that saves waiting. Depending on the location, CCS1, CCS2, NACS and GB/T chargers are used. Mercedes-Benz is thus also embracing the NACS chargers introduced by Tesla in North America. The chargers will be accessible to all electric cars, regardless of brand. Mercedes drivers do have some advantages. For example, you can reserve a spot from your Mercedes and you can use ‘Plug & Charge’ to charge and pay automatically. As the name implies, it is then just a matter of plugging it in. It is not yet known when the first Mercedes-Benz Charging Hub will open in the Netherlands. The Mercedes-Benz fast chargers will in any case be delivered to major traffic hubs and Mercedes-Benz dealer locations.
