Mercedes-Benz has an extensive range of all-electric newcomers behind the scenes. The brand now highlights what we can expect in the coming years.
Mercedes-Benz is releasing more information on the six all-electric models it will add to its delivery range in the coming years. The absolute top of that range of EVs is the EQS, the all-electric equivalent of the S-class, which, however, gets much more than just its own body and electric powertrain. Mercedes-Benz is putting the EQS on a completely new and specially developed basis for EVs. Until now it was not known how large the range of the EQS will be, but Mercedes-Benz is now opening a book about this. According to the brand, the EQS comes up to 700 kilometers on a battery charge. In any case, you can also count on the arrival of sportier versions with a smaller electric range to have. The EQS will hit the market next year, but it certainly won’t be Mercedes-Benz’s only electric newcomer.
Mercedes-Benz EQS
The brand confirms the arrival of a bunch of interesting electric models. There will also be an SUV variant of the EQS, a car that will become the EQS what the GLS is to the S-class. A step lower in the electric pecking order comes Mercedes-Benz with the EQE, the electric equivalent of the E-class, which, like the EQS, however, gets a completely own body and a platform fully focused on electric powertrains. Just like the EQS, the EQE also gets an SUV brother, a car that on paper will therefore be regarded as the electric alternative of the GLE. These new models will all come on a variant of Mercedes’ new EV platform that debuts under the EQS.
It was already known that Mercedes-Benz also comes with electric versions of the GLA and GLB. The electric alternative to the GLA will be called EQA, the electric brother of the GLB will be given the model name EQB. Those electric newcomers will not be placed on the new base mentioned above, but simply use the platform of their fossil-fueled sister models. The EQA will go into production this year, while the EQB production line will only start next year. Mercedes-Benz’s electric range currently consists of the EQC and the EQV.
