Mercedes-Benz has been teasing us since the end of last year with teaser images of the Vision EQXX: an electric concept car that should primarily serve as proof of all the knowledge and expertise that the star brand has in the EV field. The latest image released by Mercedes-Benz, combined with the earlier images, gives a good idea of the final appearance of the EQXX.
The silhouette of the EQXX was already vaguely visible on the car’s first teaser, but now the contours of the slippery EV are more clearly visible. This makes it easy to see what the window line will look like and the rear lights are visible from the side. It is striking that Mercedes-Benz is letting go of the ‘one bow’ design of the EQS and EQE for the EQXX. The nose of the EQXX does not run in an arc to the windscreen, but has a flat part. At the rear, the rear window is noticeably more oblique and the EQXX is much more elongated than the aforementioned electric Benzen. With its shape, the EQXX is more reminiscent of the Dutch Lightyear One.
Production plans for the EQXX are not yet available, but the bar is set high. Ultimately, the model should be good for single-digit power consumption and be able to drive 1,000 kilometers on a full battery. From an aerodynamic point of view, the cW value of the EQXX should be lower than the 0.20 of the EQS, while the energy density of the cells in the battery pack should be 20 percent higher.
The unveiling of the EQXX will take place on January 3rd. It is not yet known whether the super-smooth study model will also go into production. The knowledge that Mercedes-Benz has gained with this project will undoubtedly filter through to the electrical range of ‘Das Haus’ at a later stage.
