Brabus managed to find the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 for some technical and cosmetic interventions. Not only does the ultra-luxurious mastodon get a lot of extra power and the manufacturer from Bottrop is emptying the warehouse for adjustments to the exterior, the interior also gets a literally dazzling makeover.

The number 800 is a recurring theme at Brabus. In fact, not a single model from the Mercedes-AMG and Mercedes-Maybach range escapes this treatment from the breeder. The GLS 600 still had to believe and that is exactly what Brabus has now done. From the outside, the ‘Brabus 800’ – further model additions have been omitted – can be recognized immediately by the 24-inch wheels as manhole covers on which it rolls. Furthermore, Brabus makes the chrome around the side windows darker and both the front and rear bumpers get extra carbon fiber parts. The exhaust trim pieces are striking: normally Brabus mounts two trim pieces with four outlets, now they are just two large chutes in the rear bumper.

‘Find the differences’ does not end there, because Brabus paints the grille and the air vents in the front bumper black and the Mercedes star on top of the hood, a characteristic element of the Maybach-GLS, has disappeared. Still, the 800’s exterior isn’t really shocking when compared to the interior. If you weren’t fully awake on this Friday morning, you are now. The orange pops off the screen. Everything is done in that color: the dashboard, the seats, the headliner, the floor mats; an average city on King’s Day is nothing compared to it. Furthermore, Brabus provides the inside of the GLS with carbon fiber trim, aluminum pedals and some logos here and there. Of course, less daring compositions are also possible at Brabus.

Brabus would not be Brabus if the GLS 600 had not also been overhauled from a technical point of view. First of all, the SUV is 20 millimeters closer to the asphalt thanks to the modified air suspension. Under the hood is the well-known blown 4.0 V8, but with 800 hp and 950 Nm of torque, 243 hp and 220 Nm more than the original. This power ensures that the mastodon thunders to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and pushes through to a top speed of 250 km/h. It is not known exactly what the adjustments should cost. In any case, count on the €227,893 that a standard Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 costs in the Netherlands.
