It is very popular these days to make all chrome accents black and to remove all color from cars in the first place. Mercedes-Maybach takes a slightly more subtle approach than the average ‘black pack’, but it comes close.
Black wheels, black grilles, black logos, black window frames, a colorless interior: nowadays you don’t really participate as a car manufacturer if you don’t offer that whole tune in a package. From Blackline at Bentley to Obsidian Edition at Lexus and from City Sport at Fiat to Black Limited Edition at Jaguar. Yes, even the Rolls-Royce Phantom can no longer escape this trend. Now the Mercedes-Maybach models also have to believe it with the Night Series.
Mercedes-Maybach S-class Night Series.
The Germans approach it in their own way. The Night Series version for the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, GLS and EQS SUV includes various color combinations for the exterior. For example, the S-class has the depicted two-tone color scheme consisting of Onyx black and Mojave silver, while the GLS and EQS SUV have a combination of Obsidian black and Mojave silver. If desired, you can also go for a gray, black or white base color.
As you would expect with such a package, almost all normally chromed or light accents are now in black. We say ‘almost all’, because, for example, the grille and the star on the nose are not black, but have a darker chrome finish than usual. Also striking are the rose gold elements in the headlights. Special dark wheels, interspersed with Maybach logos, complete the sinister exterior party.
Mercedes Maybach GLS Night Series.
In the interior it is, how could it be otherwise, mainly a colorless event. It is not pure black as desired, as we see in a GLS interior that is executed in a black and white combination. If that bright white hurts your eyes and you prefer to go in the dark in the car, then completely black is of course possible. In that case, the seat upholstery is ‘Black Pearl’ nappa leather. The Night Series trim will soon be available for the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class. With the Mercedes Maybach EQS SUV it will come immediately with the introduction and the Mercedes-Maybach GLS will get it at the beginning of 2024.
