Mercedes is putting a six-cylinder in the Mercedes-Maybach S-class for the Chinese market. This variant will be called Mercedes-Maybach S 480 4Matic. It is not yet clear whether the ultra-luxurious S-class will also come onto the market with this motorization in Europe.
In China, the extra-long Mercedes-Maybach S-class is currently only on the price list as 480 4Matic. Under the hood is the 367 hp and 500 Nm strong 3.0 mild hybrid six-in-line that we know here from the S 450 4Matic. With that power source, the top limousine sprints to 100 km / h in 5.8 seconds and steams up to a top speed of 250 km / h. In China, cars are taxed according to engine capacity, so in that light it is logical that the Maybach will be listed there as three liters on the price list. Converted to euros, it costs € 187,415 there. It is not yet clear whether this engine variant will also come to Europe in the long term.
Moreover, it is not yet known with which engines the Mercedes-Maybach S-class will be marketed in Europe. However, it is obvious that the 4.0 biturbo V8 from the GLS 580 will also be placed under the hood of the S. Mercedes also released teaser images of a variant with V12. This is probably the 630 hp power plant from the previous Mercedes-Maybach S 650. The top limousine will be available here in the summer of this year.
