Mercedes-Benz has pulled the curtain off the absolute top version of the S-class. The Mercedes-Maybach S-class is presented as S680 4Matic. Indeed, with mighty V12!
The Mercedes-Maybach S-class, the absolute cream of the crop of the S-class, so far only existed in Europe as the S580 4Matic. That extra luxurious version of the new S-class has a 503 horsepower 4.0 V8 under the hood with which you do not exactly lack power. In China, the Mercedes-Maybach S-class is available as the 480 4Matic, a version with a 367 hp straight-six under the hood. At the other end of the spectrum, Mercedes-Benz is now parking the absolute top version of the Maybach-S. This is the Mercedes-Maybach S680 4Matic.
The Mercedes-Maybach S680 4Matic has a mighty twelve-cylinder power plant. It is a 6.0-liter V12 that produces 612 hp and 900 Nm and distributes 4Matic four-wheel drive over all four wheels. With that machine, the top limo sprints to a speed of 100 km / h in 4.5 seconds. Its top speed is limited to 250 km / h. The two-turbo V12 has to do without EQ Boost support and is therefore not a mild hybrid power source. The V12 is therefore not new. It was already in various AMG models and also served in Maybach versions of the previous S-class. However, it is the first time that the V12 in the S-class is combined with four-wheel drive.
In Germany, the Mercedes-Maybach S680 4Matic costs € 217,323 while the Mercedes-Maybach S580 4Matic changes ownership from € 164,565. It is not yet known what the mighty S680 4Matic will cost in the Netherlands.
