The MG 4 Electric gets a new sporty top version that listens to the name X-Power. Thanks to two electric motors, the MG 4 X-Power produces no less than 435 hp and can now actually be seen for the first time. But there’s more. MG is also looking ahead to a special racing version of the electric hatchback.
As early as June, AutoWeek was able to tell you the first specifications and the name of a new engine version that MG has ready for the 4 Electric. It is the MG 4 X-Power, a variant that will go down in the books as the strongest production car with MG badges ever. The four-wheel drive MG 4 Electric X-Power has two together 435 hp and 600 Nm strong electric motors. The rare coupé with a 4.6 or 5.0 liter V8 after which the top version of the 4 Electric is named – the XPower SV(-R) – kicked it up to a maximum of 390 hp. The MG 4 Electric X-Power is now for the first time and we have more information about the only four-wheel drive 4 Electric.
0-100km/h:
The MG 4 Electric X-Power has a 231 hp electric motor on the rear axle. On the front axle is the 204 hp powerful copy that you will find on the rear axle in the Comfort and Luxury versions. Where the 170 hp entry-level version MG 4 Electric Standard has a 51 kWh, the X-Power, like the 204 hp Comfort and Luxury flavors, will have a 64 kWh battery pack. There the MG 4 Electric squeezes out a range of up to 385 kilometers. The MG 4 Electric X-Power sprints from standstill to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. The sports version gets ventilated brake discs with a diameter of 34.5 centimeters all around and stands on wheels with Bridgestone Turanza rubber folded around them. The braking distance at 100 km/h is 33.5 metres.
According to MG, it brings its new Dynamic Cornering Control System to the X-Power, essentially an electronic differential and smart software that torque vectoring on all four wheels. The MG 4 Electric gets tighter springs and dampers, stronger stabilizer bars and a more direct steering system.
Long Range follows
It does not stop with the arrival of the MG 4 X-Power. The electric competitor of cars like the Volkswagen ID3 also gets a Long Range version. The MG 4 Electric Long Range will be the first variant of the MG 4 Electric with a 77 kWh battery pack. Together with a new 245 hp electric motor, this gives the MG 4 Electric Long Range a range of up to 520 kilometers. The MG 4 Comfort – currently the version with the largest range – can travel up to 450 kilometers on a full battery (64 kWh).

MG will soon release more information about the Cyberster, a much-written electric roadster that will make its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. That’s not the only electrical news that MG brings to that annual car festival. It also conjures up the MG EX4, a fierce racing version based on the 4 X-Power with a packaging inspired by that of the legendary Metro 6R4, MG’s Group B rally gun from the eighties.
