MG has big plans for our continent. The brand indicates that it will bring no fewer than five new models to the European market in the coming years.
Earlier today, MG shed light on the EHS Plug-in Hybrid that will accompany the all-electric ZS EV in showrooms early next year. That MG has more to do, that was of course already known. Now the manufacturer also gives an indication of what we can expect in the coming years.
During the presentation of the EHS Plug-in Hybrid, MG CEO Matt Lei announced in the presence of Techzle, among others, that MG will launch five new models on the European market in the coming years, each of which will have an electrified powertrain. Part of it is in any case fully electric. We already dare to make estimates of two models. MG managed to describe one of the new models as its top model, an electrically powered flagship that, according to the brand, will not only be at the top of the range in terms of technology, but also in terms of design. In any case, this newcomer seems to be an SUV-like.

MG 5 EV
The second entrant may be the MG 5 EV recently launched in the UK. You can consider it as one of the most practical models of MG, it is after all a relatively compact station wagon. The MG 5 EV deserves an explanation, because it is the electric version of the Roewe i5 that has been for sale in China for some time. Just like MG, Roewe is a brand of the Chinese giant SAIC Motor. The 5 EV is a 4.54 meter long station wagon with a wheelbase of 2.67 meters. Under the hood is a 156 hp electric motor that draws its power from a 52.2 kWh battery pack that should allow a WLTP driving range of 345 kilometers. The luggage compartment measures 464 liters. If you throw the back seat flat, you can take 1,456 liters of material with you. There is already a MG 5 in China, but that car is different from the 5 EV that comes to the Netherlands. You can read more about this here.
It is therefore not entirely certain what MG is going to do. It is clear that we will be hearing more from the brand in the coming years. Whether MG will make a roadster again? We keep our fingers crossed.
