Regardless of the version chosen, the MG Marvel R Electric has a 70 kWh battery in its bottom. With the standard 11 kW 3-phase charger, that battery pack on a fast charger can be filled with power from 5 to 80 percent in 42 minutes. The maximum charging capacity is 92 kWh. Each MG Marvel R Electric can also tow up to 750 kilos and both versions have a heat pump as standard. The luggage compartment of the SUV is 357 liters. If you throw the back seat flat, you can carry up to 1,396 liters of stuff. Under the ‘bonnet’ of the rear-wheel drive variant is a 150 liter second luggage compartment.

MG Marvel R Electric Luxury

The rear-wheel drive MG Marvel R Electric has two 180 hp and 410 Nm strong electric motors. This sprints the 1,810 kilogram version to a speed of 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds. The top speed is 200 km/h. Those who do not try to approach these values should be able to cover 402 WLTP kilometers with the MG Marvel R Electric in Luxury version.

The standard equipment of MG’s top model is not wrong. MG gives the Marvel R Electric Luxury a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation as standard and a remarkably large vertically oriented screen in the center console that is 19.4 inches in size. The soft- and hardware of this MG iSmart connectivity system supports things like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and falls over the air (OTA) to update.

Also when it comes to safety systems, you don’t have to leave the Marvel R Luxury. MG tops off the electric SUV with systems such as adaptive cruise control, Lane Keep Assistance, Rear Traffic Alert, blind spot detection, automatic high beam and even Traffic Jam Assist as standard. The list of MG indulgence continues with LED lighting all around, two-zone climate control, 19-inch alloy, a 360-degree camera, privacy glass, leather-trimmed seats, electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors, mood lighting and a panoramic glass roof. We’re not there yet, the list continues with an induction charger, keyless entry, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat with memory function and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. In addition, thanks to MG’s Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) system, you can charge things like laptops and even other EVs.

MG Marvel R Electric Performance

As its name implies, the Performance trim is the more powerful and sportier version of the MG Marvel R Electric. In addition to the two electric motors, this four-wheel drive variant has an additional electric motor that drives the front wheels. The system power of this variant is 288 hp and 665 Nm of torque. Those more powerful electric motors and the associated higher weight of 1,920 kilograms ensure that some of the range of the Marvel R Electric is taken away, although it is still a perfectly deployable 370 kilometers (WLTP).

R

MG’s parent company has a portfolio in its home country of China that, in addition to MG, also includes Roewe. Roewe has a series of R-models, electric cars that are higher in the market than the other models of the brand. The MG Marvel R Electric is not sold as MG in China, but as Roewe and is therefore one of those higher-quality models.
