MG brings a new all-electric model to Europe; the Marvel R Electric. The brand now announces more about the car presented in March.
At the beginning of this year, Roewe released a successor to his Marvel X in China, the Marvel R. A model that broadly still resembles its predecessor, but thanks to a much more eccentric front, it looks quite different. As we have seen it happen before, MG brings the Roewe to Europe and sticks its own badges on it. The result is the MG Marvel R Electric, a fully electric SUV that, with its 4.67 meters in length and 1.92 meters in width, will be a lot higher in the range than the ZS EV. The Marvel R, which focuses on the Volkswagen ID.4 and Skoda Enyaq, should also make a somewhat more luxurious and high-quality impression than the ZS.
Most of the details about this newcomer were already known at his unveiling. Now, however, MG is revealing some more concrete information. We already knew that there will be a four-wheel drive version and now it is also clear what a more modest variant has in store. It starts with a rear-wheel drive variant with two electric motors, good for 180 hp power. It shoots to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds. Above it is the four-wheel drive Marvel R equipped with three electric motors, which mobilizes 288 hp. This allows you to reach 100 km/h from standstill in 4.9 seconds. In both versions, a 70 kWh battery pack serves, good for 402 km and 370 km range respectively according to the WLTP cycle. You can charge from 5 to 80 percent in 43 minutes on the fast charger.
MG is launching the Marvel R in three trim levels; Comfort, Luxury and Performance. It is not yet entirely clear which options belong to which version, but a 19.4-inch (!) infotainment screen, Bluetooth connectivity, DAB + radio and a WiFi hotspot are available. Also, thanks to its more advanced ‘MG iSmart’ infotainment system, the Marvel R can serve its occupants a little better than the ZS. Voice control, navigation with live traffic and parking finder and a new app for checking vehicle status on your phone, among other things, are included.
MG expects the Marvel R to hit showrooms in the fall, a little later than initially expected, but reservations are already possible. MG does not reveal exact prices at the time of writing, but does report that the Marvel R will cost between € 40,000 and € 50,000.
