MG is not averse to showing crazy concept cars. We are introduced to the Maze, a futuristic-looking study model with which MG seems to celebrate the end of the lockdowns.
Every now and then MG comes out surprisingly. Although the brand of the Chinese SAIC Motors makes electrified models for a large target group, it sometimes launches strikingly aggressively designed cars and particularly playful concept cars. We cite the MG 6 Pro and Cyberster Concept as examples. The MG Maze Concept that we can show you today fits in perfectly with the latter.
According to MG, the Maze Concept is a car that meets the urge to escape from everyday life, increased by the lockdowns. A car with which you can go on an adventure in a playful way, according to MG. Strikingly enough, MG is looking for that adventure partially on a virtual plane. The Maze is inspired by the game world. According to MG, with the MG Maze you can ‘hunt for digital art in the city’. The exterior of the futuristically designed, partly polycarbonate Maze is, according to its creators, inspired by that of gaming PCs, computers that more than once have transparent parts and striking lighting.
The Maze is an electrically powered two-seater with a striking digital interface projected in front of the car. According to MG you can actually play a game with the Maze, the brand says the “[…] familiar environment is transformed into interactive, dynamic and outspoken art objects”. It is not entirely clear to us how MG envisions its game world, but it seems that via Augmented Reality the brand is filling the city you drive through with objects that you can collect to score points.
MG’s design department cannot be denied creativity.
