MG overtakes Tesla in Europe

The Tesla Model Y may be one of the best-selling electric cars in Europe, but that does not mean that Tesla is at the top of the sales of the pure electric brands. MG passed it last month.

MG is not only the best-selling Chinese car brand in Europe, it was even the most popular brand selling only electric cars last month. Tesla is usually on the throne here, but had to tolerate MG in July. This is evident from provisional figures from Dataforce, viewed by Autonews.

Last month, MG sold 15,991 cars in Europe, compared to Tesla’s 15,130. It will not surprise you, but the MG 4 Electric is the great driver of that success. Compared to July last year, MG sold no fewer than 10,000 more cars, of which roughly 5,000 were MG 4 Electric.

In the Netherlands, sales of the MG 4 are now gaining momentum. 1,200 copies have already been sold in our country this year. Tesla as a brand is still much bigger than MG here. Tesla came in July with 757 cars sold in 13th place in the sales statistics, MG finished in 26th place with 203 units.
