The English RBW EV Classic Cars has presented a pre-production version of its latest model. It is simply called a Roadster roadster with the appearance of the old MGB Roadster and an electric powertrain.
The English RBW EV Classic Cars shows a pre-production version of the Roadster, a car of which the appearance may be familiar to you. The classic-looking coach seems to come from the MGB Roadster that saw the light of day in 1962. However, according to RBW EV Classics, the Roadster is not an MG at all and the appearance of the car is “[…] inspired by the first car owned by RBW director Peter Swain that he had when he was 17. “Then that MGB, originally built by British Motor Company, made a big impression on the 17-year-old version of Swain …
Back to the most interesting part of the story: the drivetrain. The RBW EV Roadster has a 96 hp electric motor on the rear axle that helps the car reach a speed of 100 km / h in just over 9 seconds. The capacity of the battery pack, which consists of six modules and optionally eight modules, is approximately 25 kWh. The range should be about 260 kilometers. The top speed is a modest 129 km / h.
Interior
The coaches of the electric Roadster are also supplied by British Motor Heritage and are all brand new, but of course copies of the original MGB. Incidentally, not only is the powertrain underneath modern, the EV Roadster is also decorated quite modern. The toy has electrically operated side windows, central door locking, air conditioning and LED headlights. There is even a digital display in the leather-covered dashboard.
The MGB is not the only English classic that RBW EV Classic Cars has a soft spot for. The company also offers a fully electrically powered E-Type. However, this is a conversion. RBW EV Classics will start production of the Roadster early next year. The starting price? € 99,000. Oops.
