Mini’s newest member has been spotted in public for the first time: the Mini Aceman. The fully electric compact crossover remains quite faithful to the study model, that much is already clear.

Last summer Mini presented an important study model: the Mini Aceman Concept. A pretty production-ready-looking concept car that looks ahead to a new all-electric compact crossover from the brand. The Mini Aceman will not only be a new addition to the model range, but will most likely also replace the five-door Mini. As mentioned, he does this with an electric powertrain, making this the first Mini model that is only available electrically. After all, the Mini Electric is not much more than an electric three-door Mini.

That’s not the only news that the Aceman brings, because some design details are also new for Mini. For example, the Mini Aceman Concept has an octagonal ‘grille’ which is of course no longer a conventional grille, but a panel. The shape of the headlights is also new for Mini and the interior is a lot more minimalist than we are used to.

Now, for the first time, the production version of the Mini Aceman appears and it immediately becomes apparent how production-ready the study model really was. At first glance, despite the camouflage, there are hardly any noticeable differences. Our illustrator, who already introduced the Mini Aceman, seems to be pretty close to the real thing. The spotted copy only has wheels with a more conventional design, but that should come as no surprise.

As mentioned, the Mini Aceman will be fully electric and we bet that it will benefit from hardware that is in the electric version of the new Mini Countryman. He in turn looks in the kitchen at the BMW iX1. The iX1 has two 313 hp electric motors, a 64.7 kWh battery pack and four-wheel drive. There is a good chance that there will also be a front- or rear-wheel drive version of the Mini Aceman with less power. Due to its size, it is also questionable whether the Mini Aceman can accommodate a battery pack with such a capacity. In any case, carefully count on a driving range of at least 400 km. We expect the unveiling of the Mini Aceman in 2023.
