The Mini Cooper SE (Electric) should take Mini’s first big steps in EV this year. The car does this optionally on specially designed 17-inch wheels, where the name of the wheel is currently not so good. Mini does not grow any grass over it and adjusts it.
The Mini Electric was unveiled last year and most of the press photos featured the compact EV on special wheels at the time: the ‘Corona Spoke’ dipped alloy wheels, which evoke associations with English sockets. A nice idea, but in retrospect, the name turns out to be rather unfortunate. Of course, Mini put the name on the wheels long before the outbreak of the coronavirus, but that does not alter the fact that the brand is now changing it.
The wheel in question
In conversation with Carbuzz, the brand says that the name has now been changed. It is completely removed from all the things it can still be in, such as marketing brochures, configurators and advertisements. “The name has changed from ‘Corona Spoke’ to ‘Power Spoke’.
