The electric top version
The brand new Mini Cooper will be available with both fuel engines and electric powertrains. Not only with the appearance, the two follow a similar path, but also with their sporting levels. For example, above the Mini Cooper S and its electric brother SE, there will be a JCW and an ‘E JCW’ respectively. We see the latter here.
Mini is spreading its opportunities and is marketing the next generation of its three-door, which will always be called Cooper, with both fuel and electric power. With its appearance, the new Mini Cooper no longer holds any big surprises for us and we even already know how the electric Mini Cooper drives. In fact; we drove the SE, the sportier brother of the regular electric Cooper and the electric equivalent of the new Cooper S. It can of course be a step sportier with the JCW and both the petrol Cooper and the Cooper E appear as JCW. Our spy photographer has now captured the latter.
That this concerns the electric Mini Cooper E JCW is evident from the fact that the nose is largely closed and there are no exhaust tips to be seen. The bumper work is a bit thicker than with the SE and especially at the rear the Cooper E JCW distinguishes itself from the SE. Furthermore, the electric JCW seems to get a somewhat larger roof spoiler. What happens under the skin remains to be seen. The new Mini Cooper E delivers 184 hp, the SE can get started with 218 hp, so for the E JCW carefully count towards 250 hp. Mini will present the new Cooper E in September, with the unveiling of the JCW version likely to follow at the end of this year or early next year.
