Mitsubishi ASX

Mitsubishi has released the prices of the new ASX. The new Mitsubishi ASX has a starting price of just over 29 grand, which means it has a starting price that is just under a thousand euros above that of twin brother Renault Captur.

The Mitsubishi ASX was once an example for other brands. After all, with the model, Mitsubishi had a fairly successful crossover in the range quite early on. That ASX did not stay alone. In the form of the Peugeot 4008 and Citroën C4 Aircross, the Mitsubishi ASX received slightly modified twin brothers, the latter of which also came to the Netherlands. The new Mitsubishi ASX is itself a rebadged version of an existing model. Not a Peugeot or Citroën, but the Renault Captur. Now the prices of the Mitsubishi ASX are known.

The new Mitsubishi ASX has a starting price of €29,290. For that money you get the Mitsubishi ASX with 90 hp 1.0 three-cylinder that Mitsubishi has called 1.0 MPI Turbo and which is tied to a manual six-speed gearbox. The Renault Captur costs €28,325 with the same powertrain. So €965 less. The ASX with this starting price is the basic version Pure. The 1.0 is the only engine version that is available in combination with the Pure version. The Mitsubishi ASX will be available at dealers from March.

Higher up the list is the Mitsubishi ASX with 12v mild-hybrid 1.3 petrol engine. In combination with a manual gearbox, that machine is 140 hp and 260 Nm strong. In combination with a seven-speed automatic transmission, the machine produces 160 hp and 270 Nm. Just like with the Captur, by the way. The Mitsubishi with mild hybrid 1.3 is called 1.3 DI-T and is available with a manual gearbox from €35,590. Then you immediately get the second execution level called Intense. The Renault Captur with this powertrain is only available in one Techno version, which costs €32,925. The Mitsubishi ASX with 1.3 and automatic transmission is available from €39,990, although you will immediately receive a special introduction version called First Edition.

Hybrid and plug-in hybrid

Just like the Captur, the Mitsubishi ASX is also available with a hybrid powertrain and with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The hybrid Mitsubishi ASX 1.6 HEV is 145 hp strong and is available from 35,490. Then you immediately have the second equipment level: Intense. The plug-in hybrid Mitsubishi ASX 1.6 PHEV is 160 hp strong and costs a minimum of €38,990 and is then performed as a higher positioned Intense +.

From the outside, the ASX differs from the Captur on a detailed level. The ASX has, among other things, a Mitsubishi-like grille and instead of a Renault logo, the ASX carries the written model name on the tailgate. The reversing camera that has been concealed in the Renault logo at the back of the Renault Captur therefore appears to be a separate unit on the tailgate.

Equipment

So far, the Mitsubishi ASX seems more expensive than the Renault Captur, but the versions and the associated equipment, as well as the warranty conditions, are not one to one comparable.

Entry-level version Pure – which is only available for the ASX with 1.0 – has LED lighting all around and things like Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, a reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors. Air conditioning is also standard, just like keyless entry.

The standard equipment cannot be compared one-to-one with that of the entry-level version of the Renault Captur (Equilibre), which is also only available with the 1.0 for that car. As an Equilibre, the Captur does not have front and rear parking sensors or keyless entry.

The ASX Intense adds things like a 7-inch screen for the infotainment system and a 7-inch digital instrument panel to the Pure version. With the Captur you will find this screen in the second version (Evolution), but the digital instrumentation is only included in the third version (Techno). The Intense+ adds things like 18-inch light metal, black exterior accents, chromed window frames, an electric parking brake, Dynamic Chassis Control, blind spot detection, adaptive cruise control with Stop&Go and automatic high beam to the ASX party,

Top version Instyle includes leather upholstery, interior trim with a wood look, seat and steering wheel heating, a 10-inch digital instrument panel and a 9.3-inch infotainment screen and an extensive Bose audio system. This version also has a panoramic glass roof.

Guarantee

The warranty conditions of the Mitsubishi ASX are also different from those of the Captur. Renault gives a two-year unlimited mileage manufacturer’s warranty. Mitsubishi gives a five-year warranty up to 100,000 kilometers. Both brands give a 12-year warranty on the sheet metal.
