‘Even tougher’
Mitsubishi did its utmost last year to make the Xpander, which was carried in Indonesia, among others, a lot tougher, but there are always people for whom more is not good enough. Don’t worry: this is the facelifted Xpander Cross.
First mow some grass for all kinds of feet: yes, this news is paper thin. This concerns the facelift of a specific version of a model that is not or will not even be available here. So it really doesn’t matter. However, you clicked on this article when you undoubtedly already had a suspicion in this direction, so apparently it is interesting enough after all.
We are talking about the Mitsubishi Xpander, a seven-seater MPV that is available in all kinds of Asian countries. In fact, the model has been around since 2017, but last year a fairly rigorous facelifted version was presented. The new version is already a bit sturdier than the original and, for example, also stands higher on the legs. Remarkable, since Mitsubishi has also been carrying an equally higher Cross variant since 2019.
Since the facelift, there seems to be no difference in height between the regular Xpander and the Cross. Nevertheless, it is not so difficult to distinguish the Cross from other versions. For example, we note tough, black wheel arch extensions, a silver-colored molding along the sill and other bumpers with skidplate-like decoration. We also never saw the robust-looking roof rails before. The Xpander Cross is on sturdy 17-inch alloy.
By the way, the undersigned thought that this would definitely bring in the prize for the most cucumber season-like novelty, but that turns out to be reserved for colleague Lars. In 2017, he wrote an article about the teaser plate for the Xpander Cross, yet to be revealed at the time, so only the tasty treat of this specific version. AutoWeek, for really all your car news.
