Nice in the lounge

Renault’s mobility division Mobilize will not only be presenting two interesting new vehicles at the Paris Motor Show, but will also be unveiling the launch of a completely new, in-house fast charging network.
Yes: Mobilize will join the list where we also find parties such as Ionity, Shell Recharge and Fastned. It will open its first fast-charging facility this year, of course in France. Then the network should grow steadily, to about 200 stations by mid-2024. Not a huge number – For example, Tesla has 10,000 Supercharger locations – but every little bit helps. In addition to France, Mobilize is also thinking of Spain, Germany and Belgium, among others. And the Netherlands? That is not yet part of it. There is a reason for this, because our country is, after all, a ‘dead end’. The idea is that the fast chargers are only needed on longer journeys, so it is enough for the Dutch if a fast charger can be found across the border, i.e. in Belgium or Germany. Fastned and Ionity think very seriously about this, but it is a philosophy.
lounge
Mobilize’s fast-charging points must become extremely comfortable places. They will soon be deliberately not at a gas station, but at dealers that are no more than 5 minutes from an exit. Each location will receive at least 6 fast chargers, with capacities up to 400 kW. In addition to the chargers, a kind of lounge can be found, including coffee, wifi and workplaces. These places must be accessible day and night and make charging just that little bit less annoying. The Mobilize chargers will of course be accessible to drivers of all types of EVs, not just Renault, Nissan and Mobilize drivers.
