Model year update for Maserati Ghibli, Quattroporte and Levante

Another Maserati message? Yes, one more Maserati message. A lot of news has just been released from Modena. For example, it is now clear what model year 2021 will bring for the Ghibli, the Quattroporte and the Levante.

We sincerely hope that among the regular visitors there are no people with a profound aversion to the Maserati brand. Since last Tuesday, this is the ninth message about the illustrious Italian brand, which made a lot of news around the unveiling of the Maserati MC20.

After the MC20 we got, among other things, a glimpse into the electric future of Maserati. That becomes concrete very quickly, but in the even shorter term we find a small update for the Levante, the Ghibli and the Quattroporte.

That update does not come out of the blue, because all novelties have already been introduced on the super-fast Trofeo trio based on this trio. In the case of the Ghibli, the (mild) Hybrid version also received the new parts.

However, it had not yet been officially said that the other versions of these models are also eligible for the update. In Modena, Maserati confirms that this will indeed be the case. The rear lights are the most striking part of this model year update. The light units have a different layout for all three models. The triangular LED signature of the past is replaced by a boomerang shape, which is not entirely coincidentally reminiscent of the 3200 GT from the 1990s. In addition, the light units as a whole are a bit darker than before.

Another external change can be found in the grille. The vertical bars are slightly rounded on cars of model year 2020, but for the 2021 edition follow the lines set out by the Trofeo. That means that every bar becomes a bit tighter, with a raised edge all around. In contrast to the Trofeo version, the whole is not necessarily finished in black, but chrome is the starting point here.

In addition, all three models will have access to the new MIA infotainment system. With the Quattroporte and Ghibli, this is linked to a 10.25-inch screen, while the Levante can keep its slightly smaller screen. Every Maserati is now also ‘connected’, which means, among other things, that owners can keep an eye on their car via the Maserati Connect app.

Incidentally, the Levante awaits a small change next year. The SUV will then have access to the Mild-Hybrid powertrain recently launched in the Ghibli. A two-liter, four-cylinder petrol engine works in these cars together with a small electric motor that produces 330 hp.
