Modern Renault platform for Lada

Lada will eventually throw its own outdated platforms into the trash and will soon use a much more modern modular Renault base. This is evident from documents received by Russian media.

Lada is the absolute budget brand of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance and so it is not entirely surprising that the Russian models do not always have the most current hardware. Dacia, also part of the alliance, is putting the new Sandero on Renault’s modern modular CMF platform and now Lada is also proving to benefit from fresh Renault technology.

Internal documents from Avtovaz that ended up on the desks of the Russian Drom show that within a few years all Ladas will be on a CMF-B-LS platform derived from the CMF platform. The letters LS in this case stand for Low Specification, which indicates that this is a simple version of the modular CMF base. The Granta and the archaic Niva / 4×4 are each on their own platform, and models like the Largus (a first-generation Dacia Logan MCV) and the X-Ray are on the old B0 platform that Dacia also recently referred to as bulky waste. Lada is expected to start his rejuvenation round next year. Vesta, presented in 2015, seems to have escaped the dance of innovation for the time being. That model has a completely unique base that is already laced with Renault technology, called the Lada B / C platform. In the distant future, the Vesta will undoubtedly be placed on the CMF-B-LS platform, but that could take years.

The Largus is probably the first Lada to be revised. It is not yet clear what the future for the once called Niva Lada 4×4 will look like. With the 4×4 Vision in 2018, the Russians at least gave the signal that they are still interested in a rugged off-roader.
