Slowdowns, untimely cuts, if you find that the performance of your connection is degrading, start an audit of your Wi-Fi network from your Android smartphone.
Like all wireless communication technologies, Wi-Fi is not immune to intrusions. To avoid disappointments, do not forget to activate encryption from the management interface of your Internet box. Also remember to change the WPA security key regularly to avoid it being in too many hands. If, despite these precautions, you suspect that your connection has been misused, investigate using the Block Wifi Freeloader application, available free for Android.

Perform a network audit

Check that your phone is well connected to the Wi-Fi network of your Internet box. Launch the app and then touch the Rescan button to get a diagnosis. Block Wifi Freeloader displays a list of all the devices that use the network: computers (PC and Mac), tablets, smartphones, connected objects, Smart TV, Powerline boxes, nothing escapes it.
Identify devices

In addition to the name and type of the device, the application indicates its Mac address (an identifier specific to each device). The list has two types of items: known devices and those that Block Wifi Freeloader cannot identify.
Block a terminal
Your task is to make sure that no foreign device takes advantage of the network bandwidth. If in doubt about one of the devices identified by the application, check if its MAC address does not correspond to one of the devices in the household. If so, you just need to change its status by toggling from abroad To Known. When you detect an illegitimate connection, first declare this item to be a foreign device. Then tap the Foreign Block Device buttons and then Block. The application then connects to the home page of the web administration console of your Internet box or your router. All you need to do is enter your administrator credentials to activate filtering and blocking the unwanted device.
