More and more lease cars
The number of lease cars in the Netherlands continues to increase. The lease vehicle fleet also grew in the third quarter of this year. In total there are almost 1.25 million lease cars and delivery vans in the Netherlands.
In the third quarter of this year, the number of lease cars and delivery vans in the Netherlands grew by 3.2 percent, the Association of Dutch Car Lease Companies (VNA) reported. There are now 1,243,900 passenger cars and commercial vehicles in our country that are driven via a lease construction.
The Dutch vehicle fleet has a total of 783,000 passenger cars that are leased for business purposes. That is 31,300 (4.2 percent) more than at the end of last year. According to VNA, the growth of the lease vehicle fleet is easy to explain. The association believes that the increasing number of jobs in the Netherlands stimulates the demand for business mobility. Of course, leasing companies also suffer from long delivery times for new cars, which means that used (lease) cars are increasingly being used.
According to VNA, more than a quarter of all commercially leased passenger cars are fitted with a plug. That does not mean that all are EVs, plug-in hybrids are also included. That share of more than a quarter is considerably larger than that of the share of plug-in cars in the total Dutch vehicle fleet. That is about 5 percent, according to VNA.
private lease
There are now 234,700 cars in the Netherlands under a private lease construction. That is 1.6 percent more than at the end of last year. Aspects such as long delivery times and price increases also play a role here, explains VNA. Used cars are also increasingly being used in the private lease sector. Of the nearly 1.25 million lease cars in the Netherlands, 226,200 are delivery vans. That is 1.6 percent more than last year.
