More than 12 million from electric car subsidy on first day

On the first day that the SEPP subsidy pot was closed, more than €12 million in subsidy was requested for the purchase of a new or used electric car. Nu.nl reports this based on information from the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO).

On January 3, the new subsidy budget became available for the purchase or private lease of a new or used electric car. On the first day that it was possible, more than 12 million euros in subsidy was requested for the purchase or private lease of new or used electric cars.

Between 09:00 and approximately 16:45, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) received 3,113 subsidy applications for the purchase of a new electric car, for a total amount of €10,428,550. In addition, 903 subsidy applications were submitted for the purchase of a used electric passenger car, for a total amount of €1,806,000. This means that €12,234,550 in SEPP subsidy has already been allocated. Please note, these are applications. This does not mean that every applicant will also receive a subsidy.

Fortunately, the subsidy pot this year is a lot bigger than last year. The subsidy pot is filled with an amount of €91.4 million. €71 million of this is earmarked for new electric cars. That subsidy amount is almost five times larger than it was in 2021 and is good for more than 21,000 new EVs. €20.4 million has been reserved for a subsidy for the purchase of a used electric car. That is about €7 million more than was available in 2021. For the purchase of a new electric car with a catalog value of at least €12,000 and a maximum of €45,000, you will receive an allowance of €3,350. For the purchase of a used EV with an original list value of between €12,000 and €45,000, you will receive €2,000 in SEPP subsidy.

Here you can read everything about the conditions and how to apply for a Subsidy for Electric Passenger Cars (SEPP) for a new or used electric passenger car.
