More than 5 million kilos of salt were spread to ensure smoothness

Because slippery conditions are expected, Rijkswaterstaat’s gritters were deployed early. At the time of writing, more than 5 million kilos of road salt have already been spread across the Dutch road network.

Slippery conditions have been predicted for large parts of the Netherlands. To prevent excessive slipperiness, the RWS gritters have been working since Sunday at 7:00 PM to provide the roads with a layer of salt.

Since Sunday 7:00 PM, the RWS gritters have already spread 5,193,077 kilos of salt. So almost 5.2 million kilos. Since October 1, no less than 34.7 million kilos of salt have already been spread. More numbers? Do we have. The 577 gritters deployed have jointly traveled no less than 65,174 kilometers since last night. Measured since October 1, the odometer already stands at a considerable 489,000 kilometers.

Despite the heavy spreading actions, take possible slippery conditions into account. After all, forewarned counts for two.
