Only one province in the minus

The number of traffic accidents will increase in almost all provinces in 2022, according to research by Independer. Only in Flevoland were there fewer accidents and there are also clear differences at the municipal level.
It often takes quite some time before all detailed accident figures are known and therefore available Independent An analysis is now ready based on 2022 figures from the police and Rijkswaterstaat. This shows that there were significantly more traffic accidents in 2022, especially in Zeeland and North Brabant, than a year earlier. In Zeeland (2,584 accidents) this was an increase of 10.1 percent, in North Brabant (18,618 accidents) 10.4 percent. Moreover, despite an increase of ‘only’ 7.5 percent, South Holland was the province with the most traffic accidents in absolute terms. Things went wrong there 31,420 times.
The number of traffic accidents was the only one in Flevoland to decrease, by 0.8 percent. There were also the fewest accidents there in absolute terms: 2,462. Does that mean that things went wrong relatively least often in Flevoland? No, because if you compare the number of accidents against the number of inhabitants, Friesland comes out best with 4.9 accidents per 1,000 inhabitants. South Holland again comes out as the worst, with 8.4 traffic accidents per 1,000 inhabitants. At a municipal level, Ouder-Amstel stands out in a negative sense, with no fewer than 31.3 accidents per 1,000 inhabitants, followed by Midden-Delfland (26.2) and Oostzaan (17.1). Below you can see the number of traffic accidents per 1,000 inhabitants for all municipalities in the Netherlands:
