Home workers will be taking the car to work more often this winter to save on their energy costs at home. This could lead to more traffic jams in the coming months, fears the Anders Reizen Coalition. Almost half (46 percent) of employees who work from home indicate that rising energy costs are a reason to return to the office more often. There are additional concerns for employees with social housing; 68 percent of them are (very) concerned, according to research by Kantar commissioned by the Coalition Anders Reizen.
“We can already see that there are more traffic jams again. It is very busy on Tuesdays and Thursdays in particular. If it gets colder later, working from home can kill some employees, because employees would rather save on their energy bills than on high fuel costs.” , Cornelis Vlot of Anders Reizen explains the research results.More than 2,000 employees were asked about their personal situation.
