MotoMondo closes agency MV Agusta

MotoMondo will stop as MV Agusta’s agent for the Benelux on January 1, 2022. This brings an end to the era in which Jan Ykema and his company represented the Italian motorcycle brand for 23 years.

MotoMondo closes agency MV Agusta

In 1998 Jan Ykema founded Cagiva Nederland BV on behalf of the Italian parent company and then represented the 3 brands of the group in the Netherlands, including MV Agusta. In 2000 the name was changed to Cagiva Benelux and distribution in Belgium and Luxembourg was added. Later the company was renamed MV Agusta Motor Benelux.

In 2007 Jan Ykema bought the company from MV Agusta and changed the name to MotoMondo. Cagiva was withdrawn and Husqvarna sold, but MV Agusta stayed.

As of 2015, the MotoMondo brand portfolio has steadily expanded with the Hyosung, Mash, Rieju, Royal Enfield and recently Moto Morini brands. In addition to the Benelux, the working area has also been expanded to Germany, Austria, the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Jan Ykema, director and owner of MotoMondo, looks back on a good time:

“In my opinion, MV Agusta is still one of the most beautiful motorcycle brands in the world. I am therefore very proud that I have been able to represent the brand for almost 25 years. Unfortunately, the brand no longer fits the business path that MotoMondo has taken. That is why it has been decided in mutual consultation to return the agency.”

The dealers have been informed and the ongoing business is being finalized and handed over to the brand’s new representative in the Benelux, who will be announced by MV Agusta Italia shortly.
