Motorola has presented a new smartphone in the middle segment with the Edge 30. It can call itself the thinnest 5G phone and it also comes with a high-quality screen and two 50 MP cameras on the back. It is for sale for 449.99 euros.
Motorola Edge 30
The Edge 30 Pro, the flagship that we were able to test recently, is getting a little brother. The new Edge 30 is a mid-range phone that inherits familiar design cues from the Pro version. You can see that especially at the back and the camera island. Motorola proudly labels the Edge 30 as the thinnest 5G phone at 6.79mm thick.
The Edge 30 comes with a 6.5-inch Full HD AMOLED panel that bets on rich colors. There is support for 10-bit color depth and the rich DCI-P3 color palette. The panel also has a high refresh rate of 144Hz and it can display HDR10+ content from streaming services, among others.
Same camera as the Pro version
Motorola equips the Edge 30 with a Snapdragon 778G+, which is a chipset for high-end phones. Motorola is releasing the phone to us with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The battery is a 4,020 mAh one and can be charged with a 33W fast charger. The Edge 30 works with Android 12 and Motorola’s own software shell.

The subsidiary of Lenovo also focuses on the camera of the Edge 30. There is a 50 MP main sensor, the same as on the Pro version. The camera works with optical image stabilization and Motorola’s ‘All-Pixel Focus’ technology. This means that he must focus quickly and more accurately.
In addition, the 50 MP wide-angle camera of the Edge 30 Pro also got a place in this smartphone. You can take images with that lens at an angle of 114 degrees. Finally, the Edge 30 has a 2 MP depth camera and a 32 MP selfie camera on the front. So it doesn’t get the 60 MP selfie camera from the Pro phone.
Motorola Edge 30 price and availability
The Motorola Edge 30 with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage is available in the Netherlands from 2 May and has a suggested retail price of 449.99 euros. The Edge 30 is available in the color Meteor Gray at various stores. The device in the colors Aurora Green and Supermoon Silver is currently only available via the Motorola website.
