At the very last minute, Motorola pressed the pause button for the launch of its folding Razr 2022. The event where we get to see the Edge 30 Ultra is now taking place on August 11.
Motorola Razr 2022 Launch
A day after Samsung steals the show with its new Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4, it’s up to Motorola to show the world its Razr 2022 along with a more powerful version of its Edge 30 Pro smartphone. Chen Jin, the chief executive of Lenovo Mobile in China, announces the August 11 date on Chinese social media showing a teaser image of the Razr 2022. We see a clock on the QuickView screen revealing the time and date.
Motorola will launch the two phones in China, the home country of parent company Lenovo, and are expected to appear later in the Netherlands and Belgium. In China, the Edge 30 Ultra will be named ‘X30 Pro’. One possible explanation for the postponement of the August 3 event is the tension between China and Taiwan that has been heightened by the visit of US Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan.
Leaked specs
A lot is already known about the Razr 2022. Motorola makes it a powerhouse thanks to the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. The phone will have larger screens than the Razr 5G from 2019 and the price will also drop considerably.
The Edge 30 Ultra, or Motorola Frontier as it was called internally, will be the first phone to get a 200 MP camera, namely this sensor from Samsung. Furthermore, the phone comes with the same chipset as the Razr 2022 and there is also a 144Hz OLED display with curved edges. The battery has a 4,500 mAh capacity and can be charged with a 125W fast charger. It is not yet known when both phones will also be announced with us.
