Google Maps on iOS and Android is very handy, but sometimes the trip starts on your desktop computer. It’s easier to see the route on a large screen, but luckily it’s super easy to send that route description to your phone too. This way you get Maps routes from PC to smartphone.
Step 1: Route to your phone
Of course you must be logged in with the same Google account on the desktop and on the mobile device. In Google Chrome or in Microsoft Edge, surf to www.google.com/maps and there you use the search bar in the familiar way to find the location you want.
Usually you also want to see the route, so click on the blue button Route and then you indicate your starting point. When the route is on the screen, click on the button Send route to your phoneâ€
Step 2: Three or four options
Google Maps initially shows three possibilities. The service can send the data to the phone, or to the Gmail address associated with this account. The third possibility is that an SMS is sent to your phone number. Just tap the message on your mobile and Google Maps will open the location and route.
There is still fourth way. With certain cars you can send the route directly to the navigation of the car. To do this, follow the instructions when you click on the link: Can’t see the device? More information†Here you can also read, for example, the car brands that Send to Car to support.
Step 3: Tab sync
There is also an alternative, simple way to transfer the route from your desktop to your smartphone. In that case you don’t even need to have Google Maps on your mobile. Chrome must be installed on the computer and your phone and in the settings you must select the option Sync†Open tabs have activated. After you have found the location in Chrome on the desktop, open the same browser on your mobile.
There, open a new tab and tap the icon to sync with the desktop computer where the Google Maps information is located. The route that appears on your phone, unlike the one on your desktop, is then immediately optimized for a mobile system.
