Over a billion
We are going out more than last year and some municipalities are increasing their parking fees, so municipalities expect a larger revenue from parking fees in 2023. According to Statistics Netherlands, this is an increase of 7.2 percent.
Last year, Dutch municipalities collected more than €1.1 billion from parking charges. The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) calculates that almost €1.2 billion in parking money will flow to the municipal funds this year. Statistics Netherlands speaks of an increase of 7.2 percent. The increase is mainly attributed to the increase in parking fees in some municipalities.
Rotterdam wants to make parking within the ring paid until eleven o’clock in the evening from this year. According to Statistics Netherlands, that alone accounts for a third of the national increase this year. In addition, the rates for short-term parking in the center of Rotterdam will increase. The municipality of Haarlemmermeer benefits from rising parking rates at Schiphol and in the center of Hoofddorp. Together, that would be good for 35 percent more income from parking fees in that municipality. In Amersfoort, paid parking on the street will become no less than 50 percent more expensive, so that the municipality expects a total of 26 percent more revenue from parking fees.
