The announcement of a brand new Apple Music subscription cannot be long in coming. A video in the Music app hints at the premium version of Apple’s music service.
Apple Music HiFi pops up in Music app
It promises to be a musical week for Apple enthusiasts. Last week it appeared that the company is about to present the AirPods 3 and Apple Music HiFi, possibly on Tuesday 18 May.
9to5mac discovered a short teaser video in the Music app. In this teaser, under the heading ‘Coming Soon’, the text ‘Get Ready-music is about to change forever’, with the Apple Music logo underneath.
The video can now also be seen in the Dutch Apple Music app with the text: ‘Music is about to change forever’. The video itself shows the logo spinning and switching between a black and white background. This probably hints at surround sound and Spatial Audio.
Lossless audio is coming to Apple Music
This makes it almost certain that Apple Music will get a new HiFi variant. With HiFi you can listen to ‘Lossless audio’, especially if you have good headphones (such as the AirPods Max) you will hear a better audio quality. Apple would also work on Spatial Audio support for supporting devices.
Apple Music is by no means the only music service that supports such a subscription form, but it would do something special with the price. According to a rumor, you also pay ten euros per month for the HiFi version, the same price as the regular subscription. The big question is whether HiFi will also be available for family subscriptions and other memberships at a discount.
Apple may already unveil the HiFi version of Apple Music on May 18, along with the AirPods 3. The third generation of the AirPods would take over the AirPods Pro design, which provides a better fit.
