MV Agusta launches Dragster RR SCS America: US only

In 1973 MV Agusta launched the iconic 750S, dressed in the colors of the American flag to underline the importance of that specific market. As a tribute to that bike, the Italians have now launched the Dragster RR SCS America. Downside, it is only available in the United States.

MV Agusta launches Dragster RR SCS America: US only

The “America” versions paid homage to the United States, the land of freedom, adventure and epic travel. And, of course, racing. Thus MV Agusta in her press communication of the Dragster RR America.

The first model to launch an “America” Edition was the 2004 Brutale 750, the bike that MV says created the Naked Sport segment. In 2012, that honor went to another four-cylinder Naked Sport, the Brutale 1090 RR America. At the time, this model was the most powerful Naked ever built by MV Agusta.

Five years later, in 2017, a new platform was introduced that saw the birth of the three-cylinder Brutale 800 RR America, which excelled for its combination of design, performance and engine technology. At least, in the eyes of MV. Their words, not ours, although we definitely believe that MVs are stunningly beautiful and sporty, as befits a true Italian.

Only a year after the launch of the Brutale 800 RR America, the Dragster 800 RR America followed in 2018, which was not only desirable because of its distinct design, but also because it was only available in a limited edition of 200 units on the market. market was put. That’s lesson 1 of any Business School: supply and demand, the more exclusive you make something, the more will be put on the table for it.

To celebrate its most important market, MV Agusta has now, 50 years after the launch of the 750S and 5 years after the launch of the Dragster 800 RR America, launched another limited “America”: the Dragster RR SCS America, which this time in a slightly larger production series of 300 units is put on the market.

That’s good news for those who are interested, but the bad news is that it will only be available in the United States.

Okay, what are we actually talking about? MV’s latest Special Edition is notable for its special color scheme that, like its predecessors (and the original 750S), is inspired by the colors of the American flag. But that’s not the only thing that makes the Dragster RR SCS America special.

Let’s sum it up for you: a dedicated seat with the words “America Special Edition” hand stitched, the individual serial number – from 001 to 300 – engraved into the top yoke, and the clear SCS clutch cover from the accompanying Special Parts Kit, which also includes the optional Akrapovič titanium sports exhaust with associated ECU, good for an increase in power to 148 hp at 12,800 rpm.

Most striking, however, is the aerodynamic carbon fiber cover over the rear wheel, including a dedicated (USA) color scheme, which was first used on the Rush 1000, that over-the-top version of the Brutale 1000 RR.

Other than that, it’s ‘just’ a Dragster RR SCS, with the last three letters standing for the semi-automatic clutch developed in collaboration with Rekluse, which ensures that you no longer need a clutch while stationary. Just accelerate in first gear and go with that banana, just like a scooter. By the way, MV speaks of an SCS 3.0 coupling, where that figure 3.0 indicates that this is the third generation.

As mentioned, the Dragster RR SCS America is exclusively available at selected MV Agusta dealers in North America. If you’re interested and happen to know someone on the other side of the Atlantic: in the US, the bicycle costs $28,247, which is € 25,617.46 at the current exchange rate. Add to that the import duties, VAT and BPM and you will be above 40 grand before you have registered it here.
