MV Agusta launches RAPIDO electric scooter

Mobility is becoming an increasingly broader concept for many motorcycle manufacturers. This is also the case with MV Agusta, which has launched an electric scooter, following the likes of Aprilia and Ducati: the RAPIDO Serie Oro.

MV Agusta launches RAPIDO electric scooter

The RAPIDO is not MV Agusta’s first project in the field of electric mobility, the electric scooter was previously preceded by the AMO, the first electric MV Agusta bicycle. With the AMO and RAPIDO, MV has aimed at world-wise city dwellers who want to move quickly and efficiently.

Although a side note must be made with regard to the RAPIDO: in the Netherlands, the electric scooter is not allowed on public roads.

As with the motorcycles, MV has chosen to market the RAPIDO first as an exclusive Serie Oro model, with a refined, classic black/gold/red livery and featuring the most advanced materials and e-mobility technologies.

Let’s sum it up: a magnesium alloy frame; 10” tubeless “fat” tires front and rear, dual hydraulic disc brakes; a 48V 500W brushless electric motor that generates a torque of up to 24 Nm, a generous range of 50 km and a top speed of almost 40 km/h, which is limited to 25 km/h in EU countries.

RAPIDO can ride uphill on slopes up to 14°, and riders have a choice of 4 riding modes: Pedestrian, Eco, Comfort and Sport+. The RAPIDO also features a true 4-inch LCD dashboard, which acts as a control panel and speedometer, which connects to the rider’s smartphone via a dedicated app.

Ratmir Sardarov, head of MV Agusta Group’s e-mobility division:

“We take the same care and attention traditionally given to our legendary motorcycles when crafting our electric bicycles and scooters by hand. The architecture of the new company has been specifically designed to promote an open process of mutual exchange of competences at all levels of production and between the two companies, from design to assembly on the shop floor. The quality and performance level of our e-mobility vehicles are the same that we achieve in our traditional motorcycle production. In this sense we can truly say that MV Agusta is also all about the art of e-mobility.”

The RAPIDO Serie Oro will be available for purchase online first and then through the MV Agusta dealer network. The suggested retail price, including VAT, is €999, with early bird discount of €849 until Christmas or while supplies last.
