You probably know it: you want to add someone on Instagram after a nice conversation, but you don’t understand the name well. With name tags you never have to search for the profile again, but you add someone directly. That is how it works.
Instagram name tags: that’s how you add people quickly
Instagram has been given a new function. Following the example of Snapchat and Twitter, the social network now also has a way to add people directly without searching. Thanks to name tags you can add each other directly by scanning a code.
Here’s how to add someone with an Instagram name tags:
- Open the app and go to your profile;
- Press the three lines at the top right and select ‘Name tag’;
- Your conversation partner can now scan this code by opening the camera.
After scanning, your Instagram profile will be shown immediately, after which your new friend will add you. You can personalize your own Instagram name tag with emoji, colors, selfies and stickers.
Search no longer
Instagram says name tags are mainly for adding someone directly, without having to search for their profile. However, you can also share the codes via other social media, WhatsApp and SMS.
Incidentally, Instagram is by no means the only social network with this option. It was previously possible to add friends in this way on Snapchat and Twitter. In addition, Instagram has been testing name tags for some time, so the feature may not be new to you. The update rolls out immediately. It may take a few days for your device to be updated.
