Netflix’s new parental control system includes an option to lock access to a profile with a code. Here’s how to set it up.
The current lockdown period is conducive to cascading content viewing on streaming video platforms, especially for younger people. Netflix took this opportunity to improve its parental control system, adding new features.
Among the new functions integrated into parental control, Netflix is ​​setting up an option to configure a lock code on the various profiles saved in the application. An option that can be very useful to prevent your offspring from accessing inappropriate content blocked on their profile, including that of an adult.
1. Go to the account settings
To configure a lock code on the different profiles of your Netflix account, you must go through the service’s web interface, the option not being accessible from mobile applications.
Log in to your Netflix account from your usual browser, hover over your avatar, at the top right, and click on the Account menu.
2. Activate profile lock
Once in your account settings, scroll through the options displayed until you reach the section devoted to Profiles and parental controls where the different profiles of your account are grouped together.
Expand the menu of the profile to be locked then, in the Locking profiles line, click Modify.
3. Set a code
Before you can set up the PIN code, you will need to enter your Netflix account password to be able to change the lock.
Once authenticated, check the box Require entry of a PIN code to access the profile, enter your code, and check the box Request PIN code from [Votre profil] to prevent the creation of a new profile that would allow access to prohibited content, and validate by clicking on Save.
Now every time someone tries to access your profile, entering the lock PIN code will be required.
Repeat the operation as many times as necessary on all the adult profiles configured on your Netflix account to limit access and thus prevent the youngest from viewing films and series unsuitable for their age.
