At the time of writing, Netflix still does not have an official app on the Nintendo Switch. But with a detour, you can still access the catalog of the largest video streaming service on the planet. You can read exactly how you work in this article.
Nintendo wouldn’t be Nintendo if there wasn’t some weird limitation or boundary somewhere. There is something to be said for that: the company has a clear philosophy, gaming first, and is therefore hardly concerned with peripheral matters. That’s why we come across very few apps from streaming services on Nintendo’s platforms.
The Netflix app was available on the Wii U and 3DS, but on the Nintendo Switch you have to make do with apps like YouTube and one for comics. Furthermore, there is little software that is not a game; Although Pokémon fans are of course familiar with the Home app.
But that’s all irrelevant if you just want to watch Netflix on your Nintendo Switch. Fortunately, it is possible, but you have to jump through some hoops. You can use the service via the internal browser of the game console.
Just like on the PlayStation 5, that browser is hidden, so you also just need to know where it is or how to activate it. In the step-by-step plan below we will help you step by step.
Netflix on Switch: How?
- Go to the settings of your Nintendo Switch, by pressing the gear icon to push
- In the menu on the left, scroll down until you see internet sees
- Select that option and in the screen on the right go to the internet settings
- You will now see an overview of nearby WiFi networks; are you looking for own WiFi network on
- Select the network and press the A button
- Then choose the option Change settings
- Choose the DNS settings option and indicate that you manually want to assign (if everything is correct, it should still be Automatically assign)
- below primary DNS fill you now 045.055.142.122 in
- Confirm your choice
- Now select again the WiFi network to which your Nintendo Switch is connected
- The screen now shows that a registration is required to use the network; that’s the purpose
- Press on the button Next one
- A page will now appear called SwitchBru DNS†that’s the point too
- Select the option that takes you to Google (the button below the welcome message)
- Search for Netflix using the Google search engine
- Log in with your existing account and view the content you want
What do you have to take into account?
Since this is not an official way to visit Netflix, keep in mind that things can go wrong. Do this only at your own risk. In the worst case scenario, a malicious person can steal your login details, but we have not read anything about that at the time of writing.
In addition, don’t forget to reset the DNS settings afterwards Assign manually otherwise you will run into other problems.
